Some locations look a little ordinary when you first pull into the parking lot. This park near Saginaw is one of those places. At first glance, you see baseball fields, sidewalks, and people going about their day. Then we walk a little farther in and everything opens up into tall greenery, soft light, and a beautiful view across the pond.
It is one of the reasons I love photographing families here. We do not have to hike forever or ask little kids to stay inside one tiny picture-perfect spot. There is room to move, explore, and let the session breathe.
A Session With Two Very Energetic Little Ones
This family brought two busy, funny little people with them, which meant the session was never going to be quiet or perfectly still. Honestly, that was part of what made it so good.
We started with a few photographs of everyone together while the kids still had a little patience for me. Then we loosened things up and let them do what kids naturally do. They moved. They played. They found things that were more interesting than my camera. Their parents followed their lead, laughed with them, and loved on them in the middle of all of it.
That is usually where the photographs start feeling less like a photo shoot and more like your actual family.
The Photos Do Not Need to Feel Perfect to Feel Important
I will always guide you and make sure we get the photographs where everyone is together. I am also paying attention to all the smaller things happening around those photographs. The way your child reaches for you. The expression you make when everybody is being a little wild. The second a sibling turns a game into a real laugh.
Those moments are not the part we have to work around. They are often the whole reason the gallery feels like yours.
