The sweetest place to remember your baby may be the place where you are already learning one another.
The first days at home with a new baby can feel tender, joyful, exhausting, and beautifully ordinary all at once. An in-home newborn session gives your family room to stay close, move slowly, and be exactly where you are most comfortable. There is no diaper bag to pack, no studio arrival time to race toward, and no expectation that your baby will sleep through a perfectly planned pose.
Inviting a photographer into your home during such a personal season is an act of trust, and I do not take that lightly. Before your session, we will talk through what feels comfortable, which rooms you may want to use, and anything you would prefer not to photograph. You are always allowed to ask for a pause, change your mind, or keep a moment private.
You do not need to have the baby dressed and waiting for me at the door. Most families are still deciding on an outfit, finishing a feeding, changing a diaper, or simply finding their footing when I arrive. That is completely welcome. I will come in, greet your family, and let you show me to the nursery or another room you are considering. After I find an out-of-the-way place for my camera bag, I usually begin quietly. While you tend to the baby, I can photograph little nursery details, a meaningful blanket or keepsake, and a few peaceful images of the baby resting in the crib when it is safe and comfortable. If you are choosing between two tiny onesies, show me both. I am happy to offer a gentle suggestion based on the light and colors in the room. As we continue, I will look for comfortable light and simple backgrounds. If a small table, lamp, or distracting item needs to shift, I can help move it and put it back. We will use only the rooms you are comfortable using, and we will never turn your home upside down. If you know my energetic side from an outdoor family session, newborn sessions feel different. I am still warm and encouraging, but I work with more softness, patience, and intention so your home never has to feel rushed or chaotic.
Nothing about your session needs to be perfect. Your baby can cry. Your toddler can need a snack. You can take a breath, change a diaper, or sit down for a while. We will leave room for all of it. I will offer calm, simple guidance when it helps, but I will never force a pose or ask your baby to work around a rigid plan. A feeding, diaper change, or moment of soothing is not taking time away from the session. It is part of caring for your baby, and sometimes those ordinary moments become the photographs that matter most.
I love photographs that show the way parents care for their baby together. That might be Dad passing over a clean diaper, Mom leaning close, hands working together, or both parents smiling down at the changing table. I can photograph these moments from a thoughtful angle that tells the story without showing anything private. Every family has a different comfort level, so I check in rather than assume. If a moment feels private, it stays private. Breastfeeding can be photographed in a beautiful, gentle, and celebratory way. I focus on connection, small details, and the way you hold your baby while using angles that preserve your privacy. I will always ask first. If you would rather use that time privately, that is equally welcome. I prefer not to place breastfeeding examples openly on the website. If seeing examples would help you understand my approach, you may ask to view a few privately before your session.
I am not working from a rigid checklist or trying to make your family perform. I am watching for the small pieces of this season as they unfold: your baby resting safely and naturally, the way each parent holds and comforts them, everyone curling up together, siblings getting to know the baby in their own way, and the quiet rhythm of rocking, changing, soothing, and feeding when you would like it included. I will also notice the nursery details, heirlooms, pets, and familiar corners of your home that help these photographs feel like your family rather than anyone else's.
There is no single perfect day. Some families want photographs during the first two weeks, while others would rather wait until everyone has had a little more time to settle. In-home sessions can be beautiful beyond the traditional newborn window because your connection matters more than a particular pose, schedule, or age.
If you are booking before the baby arrives, we can reserve space around your due date and confirm the session date after birth. If your baby is already here, you have not missed your chance. We will choose timing that feels kind to your family.
Please do not feel that you need to deep-clean the entire house for me. We can identify one or two comfortable spaces and move only the few things that distract from the people in the frame. A lived-in home is not a problem. It is the place where your life is happening.
Choose clothing that feels comfortable and familiar. Soft neutrals and simple textures photograph beautifully, but your family does not need to match. You may also gather a meaningful blanket, heirloom, or nursery detail if there is something you would especially like to remember. Everything else can stay simple.
In-home newborn sessions begin at $652 and include up to 90 minutes of photography.
That time is intentionally unhurried. It gives us room to follow your baby's pace, move between meaningful spaces in your home, and pause for feeding, soothing, or a diaper change. Those moments are not interruptions. They are expected, and they are part of why these sessions are longer than a standard portrait session.
Not at all. It is very common for the baby to still be in a diaper, pajamas, or the middle of a feeding when I arrive. We can ease into the session while you finish getting ready, and I can help you choose between outfit options if you would like another eye.
Most homes have at least one lovely pocket of light. I will look for it and choose angles that keep the attention on your family rather than the size of the room. If we need a little extra light, we can talk through that before the session so nothing feels surprising.
That is completely normal. Crying does not mean the session is going badly, and there is no need to apologize. We can pause, feed, change, rock, or simply give the baby a little time. The session is built around your baby, not the other way around.
Yes. I use respectful angles and focus on connection rather than exposure. I will ask before photographing any feeding, and you can change your mind at any time. If seeing examples would help you understand my approach, you may ask to view a few privately before deciding.
Tell me your due date or baby's birth date, your location, and who you would like included. You do not need to have every detail figured out before reaching out. I will help you choose timing and a plan that feel comfortable for your family.
