How Much Does It Cost to Have Family Photos Done in Fort Worth, TX?

If you’ve ever Googled “How much do family photos cost in Fort Worth?”, you’ve probably noticed the answer is… “it depends.” Family photography prices can range widely depending on the photographer’s experience, session length, the type of session, and any additional fees like permits or travel. Whether you’re in Fort Worth, Keller, Saginaw, Arlington, Southlake, Bedford, Crowley, Azle, or anywhere else in the DFW area, knowing what goes into the cost can help you plan, and budget, without surprises.

Average Price Ranges for Family Photography

Mini Sessions

Mini sessions are shorter, seasonal sessions (often 15–20 minutes) that are perfect for quick family updates or holiday cards. In the DFW area, mini session prices usually range from $150–$299 depending on the photographer and what’s included.

💛 My own fall mini sessions start at $185, and include a curated location, a quick but intentional shooting experience, and a small gallery of high-quality images.

Full Family Sessions

For more time, variety, and flexibility, a full family session is the way to go. In Fort Worth and surrounding cities, you’ll typically see prices from $325–$750+, depending on the photographer’s style, experience, and whether they offer extras like wardrobe guidance or multiple locations. My full family sessions are $465 and include up to an hour of shooting and a generous gallery of images.

High-End & Luxury Sessions

Some photographers in Dallas–Fort Worth offer fully styled, luxury sessions complete with wardrobe rentals, hair and makeup, and custom albums. These can run anywhere from $1,500–$3,000+ depending on what’s included.

Additional Costs to Consider

1. Location Fees

Some locations in DFW require photography permits. For example, the Fort Worth Botanic Garden charges a fee for professional photography. While these spots can be beautiful, they do add to the total cost.

💡 Tip: Ask your photographer to recommend free or low-cost locations. I have a list of beautiful, permit-free spots across Fort Worth, Saginaw, Keller, Arlington, Southlake, Bedford, and beyond that still deliver stunning backdrops.

2. Clothing for Your Session

Wardrobe can add up if you feel like everyone needs something new. I recommend starting with what you already have in your closet. If you buy just one new piece, let it be mom’s outfit—it’s often the focal point of the photos. Then, build the rest of the family’s outfits from colors in her dress or top. This creates a coordinated look without the cost of a full shopping spree.

3. Travel Fees

If your photographer is traveling far outside their home base, there may be extra travel charges.

I serve Fort Worth and most of the DFW area, including **Saginaw, Keller, Crowley, Azle, Arlington, Southlake, Bedford, and other cities within about 35 miles**, with no additional travel fees.

4. Albums and Prints

Even though most photographers (myself included) deliver high-resolution digital files, many families also want prints, framed art, or albums to enjoy in their homes. These can range from affordable prints you order yourself to custom heirloom albums through your photographer. If you’re looking to keep costs lower, you can start with just a few favorite prints for your walls and add on over time.

Making the Most of Your Investment

Family photos are more than just pictures. They’re the way your kids will remember what life felt like growing up. Choosing the right photographer, planning your outfits, and picking a location you love can make all the difference in how much you enjoy the process and how much you love the final images.

If you’re in the Fort Worth area and want photos that feel connected, playful, and real, I’d love to help you make it happen.

How to Save Money While Still Getting Beautiful Photos

  • Book mini sessions for quick seasonal updates instead of a full session.
  • Choose free locations that still match your vision.
  • Shop your closet first before buying new clothing.
